My wife she supported me from the start, and always has my back


What is your favorite way to end a fight?

With the crowd on their feet applauding a good fight.  Ideally with my hand raised.


What would you change in MMA?

Same day weight ins

Bruce Lee


Where do you see yourself in five years?

Right where I am enjoying my family life, and involved with the mma community


Which fighter in the UFC do you compare yourself too style wise?

Clay Quida


What are your strengths as a person and as a fighter?

Strength, determination, respect, and being humble enough to learn from my mistakes in the cage and my life


Your thoughts on ZUFFA/UFC buying Strikeforce.

I don’t think one person should control the two biggest promotions. Competition for viewers makes promoters strive to put on a better show!!


How do you handle a loss?

I am very competitive so I like to win, but only one person can win and our sport is very unpredictable.  As long as I trained hard and fought hard. I will get over it and try to learn from it!


2 things people might not now about Steve Rogers?

I like video games, and love to read fantasy novels wizards, dragons, magic


If you could be an animal, which would you be?

A panther or mountain lion


Your vice? Guilty Pleasure?

Food I love to eat. Before fighting I never knew what a diet was!!


What’s your favorite toy at the moment?

Computer, and my e reader


What does your day consist of as you train for your next fight?

Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri  I get up early run 6k before breakfast, check my weight, shower, eat breakfast. Work from 8:30-5:30 in a machine shop. From 6pm- 8pm my teammates give me some fresh bruises usually the result of sparring and grappling. Go home shower, have a protein shake, and try to relax with my family. On the weekends I try to train with different clubs and different people


If you could give advice to a young MMA practitioner, what would that be?

Learn from as many people as possible, nobody knows everything!! Knowledge is power in this game!!


Biggest misconception when you say you’re an MMA fighter?

That I am involved in a brutal sport. That instance happens less and less as MMA continues to grow and evolve as a sport
